Oncology

Treatment and care of oncological patients

The Clinical Oncology is the field of medicine responsible for the study and treatment of tumor diseases, just as the support and care of the patients who suffer it.

My first contact with dis discipline was during my Grade in Biology at the University of Navarra. Although my main motivation was genetics and its therapeutic applications, I join up to the Biochemistry and Genetics Department enrolled in academia, research and assistance work about cytogenetic and molecular diagnosis of haematologic and oncologic diseases.

Having my PhD done about genomic biomarkers in lung cancer patients, I decided to try to find a different point of view of patient and oncologic disease: In 2011 I enrolled in the Grade in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Zaragoza.

Currently I work as a Resident Physician in the Medical Oncology Department at Hospital Universitario de Fundación Jiménez Díaz (Madrid).

Clinical Oncology Projects:

  • KRAS and BRAF mutations as prognostic and predictive biomarkers for standard chemotherapy response in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer.
  • Nutritional evaluation and therapeutic intervention of patients diagnosed of locally advanced lung cancer treated with radical chemoradiotherapy.
  • Characterization and improvement of predictive biomarkers of Venous Tromboembolic Disease (VTD) in advanced cancer patients.
